The Cedar County Fair Board would like to thank you for taking this opportunity to apply for the Cedar County Fair Queen Contest. We are very excited about the upcoming fair and want to make this a memorable one.

One of the first activities of the fair is the crowning of our Queen who will go on to represent Cedar County at the Iowa State Fair August 7th – 11th. We are looking for young women between the ages of 16 and 21 who reside in Cedar County. These ladies need to be active in the community and positive role models. It is not limited to just those who are in FFA & 4-H.

Please return the following pages along with a billfold-sized photo for the paper to Queen Coordinator, Jana Timmerman at PO Box 324, Tipton, IA 52772 or email to thecedarcountyfair@gmail.com. Contestants are required to fill out these forms, attend contestant orientation, take part in the Tipton 4th of July parade, the pre-fair picnic & rehearsal, have a one on one interview with a panel of judges, be present for the ceremony on Wednesday, July 11th, along with participating in various activities at the 2018 Cedar County Fair. The crowing of the 2018 Cedar County Fair Queen with be Wednesday, July 11th. Attached you will find an entire schedule of the program.

New this year, queen candidates will be asked to mentor up to three princess contestants for the 2018 Cedar County Fair Princess Contest. Each candidate will meet their princess(es) at orientation and work with them through the parade, the contest, and the crowning ceremony.

Throughout the entire competition judges will be basing their decision on personality, attitude, appearance & awareness, leadership, citizenship, overall appearance, charm, and poise. Competition consists of a group interview, one-on-one interview, and stage presence on Wednesday, July 11th. Events prior to the fair will not count towards the final decision, but your presence is highly encouraged.

We are requesting that each Queen candidate have a sponsor. Any organization, church, business, or individual can sponsor a candidate. Each sponsor shall donate a minimum of $50 on the candidate’s behalf. This $50 will go towards prizes & awards for the contestants. If you need assistance finding a sponsor, please contact Jana.

The 2018 Cedar County Fair Queen & Princess will make special appearances throughout the fair including, but not limited to, shows, grandstand events, etc. All contestants are encouraged, but not required, to appear at these events once the contest is completed.
